Education vs awareness

Education is expected to develop a person, increase his knowledge, awareness and give him a broader perspective of life.In short education helps to improve ones personality. But how far does it actually help an individual?

Women have always been prey to various atrocities from ancient times. The rape cases and molestations continue even in the present scenario.Goa,the state which contributes a lions share towards tourism revenue is highly unsafe for the tourists. The other states are not far behind.Even the chilren are not spared.A seven year old was raped in the capital two weeks back.Sadly, the perpetrators of most of these crimes are educated. The respect element is totally lacking in the "educated" youth of incredible or shining India. The patriarchal and conservative thoughts are still entrenched in the minds of most of the educated people. In this context,I feel education has contributed little towards improving the horizon of thoughts of people.

The world is moving towards a power crisis.Energy shortage is a serious threat."Switch off the lights and fans when not in use".This is a commonly encountered phrase. But how many of us actually do it??

Kerala is one state that boasts of its literecy rate(am talking about the literacy beyond the signing of names).Yet the so called pseudo god-men,the latest in the news find it a very favourable destination. So if education actually makes you more aware, why do these people find it so easy to make a living in this state??

The suicide rate and honour killings continue to show a rising trend despite the various measures taken by the government. So I feel we have reached a position where lack of education cannot be blamed for what is happening around us.(The recent gujjar agitation included, which became this worse only due to BJPs renege )It is the mindset, the thoughts of the people that needs a change, which has a long way to go....

u really r a congress supporter :D

India being unsafe is more hype than reality. There are certain locations in India where if u enter u r asking 4 trouble, boy or girl. These places are very much present in other countries also. The difference is that when foreigners come here they consider india as their home and wander about in these not so good place when ever they please. I am not justifying the crime but I do believe that if the tourist take some responsibility most of these incidents can be avoided.
paedophiles rapist are present in all countries and i think its comparatively less in India

There will always be evils and stuff in this world..education/ awareness will never eliminate evil, it can to a certain extend encourage. Like some one once said, there has to be evil in this world so that good can prevail

yes i am a very jobless person

education includes moral enlightenment too.. thats what is lacking in our system.
majority of us may know how a rocket goes up, but most doesnt know how to behave decently to others especially of the opposite sex or how to show love n sympathy to other and most importantly think outside the 'I, me and myself' sphere.
